Mandatory Deposit of EPF Contributions through internet Banking extended till 31.12.15 for small employer

EPF department has earlier informed to all Employers that it is mandatory for all establishments contributing above Rupee one Lakh have to make compulsory payment of EPF through online mode only with immediate effect.
Further establishments contributing less than one lakh in a month may deposit epf contribution through offline mode till September,2015.

Now epf department has extended the mandatory epf due date for small employer contributing less than one lakh in a month to 31.12.2015

From 01.01.2016 ,all establishments (without any minimum Limit) shall be required to deposit EPF contribution only through online banking 

Epf department circular in this regard and ministry of labour order is also given hereunder for your ready reference 

As per amendments in Para 38 (1) and 48 of EPF Scheme, 1952. It mandatory for all Employers to pay the statutory contributions through Internet Banking.

2. ln exercise of powers conferred under amended para 38(1) of EPF Scheme, 1952, the Central Provident Fund Commissioner has allowed employers who remit contributions of less than Rs] lac in a particular month to make such payments through banks” drafts, bankers’ cheques or cheques upto December, 2015. Thereafter, it shall be mandatory from 1st January, 2016 for all employers to make payments electronically through internet banking. A copy of the said order is enclosed for information.

ORDER

Ministry of Labour & Employment vide notification No. 6.5. R. 360(E) dated 5th May, 2015 has amended Para 38(1) of the EPF Scheme, 1952. The Central Government has made it mandatory for employers to pay statutory contributions electronically through Internet Banking only.

2. In exercise of powers conferred to the Central Provident Fund Commissioner under amended para 38(1) of EPF Scheme, 1952, it had been ordered vide Office Order of even No. dated 24th June, 2015 that an employer who makes payment of less than Rupees one lac in a particular month as contributions under Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Fund Act, 1952 and Schemes framed thereunder, shall have the option to make such payments through bank drafts or banker’s cheques or cheques drawn only on the local bank as was being done earlier.

3. The order dated 24th June, 2015 stands amended and shall be valid upto the month of December, 2015. Thereafter, it shall be mandatory from 1st January, 2016 for all employers to make payments electronically through internet banking. The order is being issued considering the fact that many of the employers having small work force may not readily have facility of internet banking.
